My gg grandparents (McDonough) came to D.C. in the early 1860's.  My gg grandmother died in a housefire in 1875 and is buried in Holy Rood cemetery.  The cemetery is in horrible condition and the cemetery's records (maintained by Georgetown University) are spotty at best.  I've had no luck so far in finding her grave.

My gg grandfather remarried in 1879 and around 1884 moved the family to St. Louis.

While in D.C., my gg grandfather worked "for the gas company".

My current efforts are to determine which Roman Catholic church they belonged to; which Gas Company my gg grandfather worked for; and to find any photos of their neighborhood from that time period.

My Calverts came to DC about 1830, and my Rathbone's in 1860. I have people in Glenwood Cemetery and Congressional Cemetery.
