Hello Barbara. Was the person that was in the Volunteer Battalion of Incorporated Militia, fighting on the American side or the Canada side. If on the American side, do you have Footnote.com?? Did he receive a pension? Footnote.com has many records of penison for solidiers in the War of 1812 and the Revolutionary war. If you want to give me his name and what information you have on him, I can try to look him up if you do not have Footnote.com

Addition to my previous comment: The Volunteer Battalion of Incorporated Militia 1813-1815 fought in the Niagara Frontier and the York regions.

How can I locate the service records of men who served in the Volunteer Battalion of Incorporated Militia 1813-1815? This was a group from Upper Canada (present day Ontario). Thanks!

I am please to inform those interested that I have been accepted for membership in the General Society of the War of 1812 thru my ancestor Lewis Parrish(02 Dec.1785-18 Jun 1873) His service was in Capt. Benjamin J. Clough's Co. NY Militia Enlisted Oct 1813 to Dec 1813; Capt. Frederick Richmonds Co. NY Militia from 03 Aug 1814 to 27 Sep, 1814.

Hi Anita-
Would you mind starting a discussion with the records you have that indicate Elijah Johnson may have been in the three regiments you list?

I think we need to find pay rosters for those regiments and see if he is included. I checked the pension applications on Ancestry, and there are other Elijah Johnsons but they do not match the regiments you have listed.

I did see that he is mentioned in several books, when I googled him, but I don't see anything that is specific about when and where he served.

Hi Anita-
My ancestor, Joshua Stroud Fletcher was in the Pennsylvania Volunteers, as well as the PA regular Army. He served under two commands, Smith's and Pearl's.
I'll take a look and see what I can find on Elijah. :)

One of my ancestors, Elijah Johnson fought in the War of 1812. Most accounts state that he fought out of New York. The confusion comes with the company's I found with an Elijah Johnson. Is there a possibility that he fought with all three units?
1. 1st Regiment (Harris), New York Militia (Private)
2. 2nd Regiment (Ward's) New York Militia (Private)
3. Hill's Regiment Pennsylvania Militia (Private)

Elijah Johnson is the father of my ancestor, Sarah Johnson (born about 1808, Pennsylvania), and her brother Elijah Junior. They were orphaned and left in Pennsylvania while Elijah was in the War of 1812.

I would like to find information on which unit he fought out of.

It looks as if all the soldier links above are for the US side. I wonder if anyone has found resources for the Canadian soldiers from the war.
