Introduction

Welcome to the Wales and Welsh Genealogy Group. This is a group focused on Welsh Genealogy and other topics related to genealogy in Wales (map). Welsh Genealogy is not for the faint of heart and can be extremely challenging. But, it is also one of the most interesting pursuits and hobbies that you can find.

If you're just getting started, the BBC has a wonderful section on their web site devoted to Family History in Wales. If you're looking for more detail about Welsh Genealogy, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a great Research Outline for the Country of Wales.

Interested in the following surnames: TIFFEE/TIFFY/TIFFEY/TIFFIE - OLLAR/OLLER/OLER - GARNER - MAYS, MAYES. Have been led to believe they immigrated to the U.S. prior to 1800. Any information appreciated.

Very keen to find other living descendants of my Great Great Grandfather, who was a carpenter called David Thomas, b. 1799 in Cilgerran. I believe he moved to London in the 1820s.

I have 1 Welsh ancestor of whom I'm aware, but I can't find anything other than written anecdotes that he was from Wales. Barnabas Wilcox came from Bristol to PA in the mid?1680s & was a ropemaker and member of the provincial council or something similar. He may have been mayor of Philadelphia prior to the city's incorporation. Send me a message if you tie into him.
