At www.google.com, type in Mike John Monmouthshire. On the home page click on "Chepstow." All of the parish records for Chepstow have been typed up and indexed. I have Howell ancestors from St. Arvans about 4 k from Chepstow.
Im not sure about anything too much past my 3rd GGF Levi Powell. This is my BrickWall. The town that I have heard of in Wales is Breckonshire I beleive. And the "Castle Madoc" was owned by the Powells around the 11century, and the name would have been Hywel then.
I have Powells, an Ann Powell 1803, my third great grandmother, married to an Edward Richards in Merthyr Tydfyl. I have nothing on her ancestry, anyone able to help?
It was interesting to read that Powell used to be Howell and before that Hywel. A lot of the males in my family descended from Ann and Edward were called Howell.
