November is Local History Month at Yarra Plenty Regional Library in Melbourne's north which services the municiplaities of Nillumbik, Whitltesea and Banyule. There are a number of speakers of interest to family historians. Please vist the Events section of Genealogywise or visit www.yprl.vic.gov.au. Thanks.

I saw that. Thanks. That has been added to my tree. I have searched pretty hard for Arcotti items. It seems to be a pretty rare name.

This could be your man!
"The following deaths took place in the Benevolent Asylum, Dunwich, during the week ended 10th instant:— . . . James Arcotti, 64, Piedmont, Italy . . . "

Note: Giacomo = James

Oh sorry. I actually have a book about the Ticinese Australian Immigrants. My great grandfather was Bartolomeo Arcotti. He never went to Australia and immigrated to California. His father, also called Bartolomeo went to Australia and I have no record of his death. Giacomo also went to Aus. and I have no more records. The book was not much help, just verified that they were there.

I have a couple of ancestors who came to Autralia in the 1860's. The last name is Arcotti. They are listed in a book called The Settlement of Swiss Ticino Immigrants in Australia by J. Gentilli. Page 16 lists Bartolomeo and Giacomo Arcotti.Origin Corippo. Birth dates 1828 and 1831. I have no record of what happened to either. Bartolomeo was my great great grandfather. Any ideas about finding more information on Arcotti in Australia? Thanks!
