I have shirt-tail relatives in that family which sprung from Govert Van OY, born c.1620 in Noord Holland, Netherlands. His son Jan 'John' Van HOY [already!] immigrated to the Colonies and settled in Richmond Co., Staten Island, New York Colony. Jan's son John, and most others of the children, changed the surname spelling to VANNOY.

This may be of interest to Vannoy researchers. It seems Dutch names have many variants. Vannoy, van Noy, Noy. Noij. Noyen, Noijen and maybe more! The Dutch govt genealogical website (CBG.nl) has quite a bit of information including 2 coat of arms for the Noy/Noij name (of course your should prove your lineage first). England maybe also an area of interest because many Dutch and Belgian families were displaced there by Protestant/Catholic wars in 1500's and came to the New World from England.
