Hi all, I just wanted to let everyone know I am having trouble with my server. I keep getting bumped off, so I don’t know when I will be able to just get on.

They met in Portland, Maine. Perhaps he was a summer visitor or an itinerant worker.

James, you do have a pickle, don’t you? Any ideas as to where your mother met him? Or if he was about the same age as her? Below are all the boys named Samuel Turner on the 1920 census of Virginia born between 1900-1914. Since you were adopted, you might be able to contact the state where you were adopted and see if you can get the record.

Unfortunately, trying to find Samuel may be like looking for a needle in a haystack. If the right Samuel Turner is on the list below, finding the right one may be impossible, unless he signed a release for adoption or your mom had more info she didn’t tell you.

Samuel Turner David, Abigail, Garden, Buchanan, Virginia abt 1902 Virginia White Son
Samuel Turner Beauregard, Annie, Lower West, King William, Virginia abt 1907 Virginia White Son
Samuel Turnes [Samuel Turner] Joe T, Elizabeth, Boykins, Southampton, Virginia abt 1910 Virginia White Son
Samuel R Turner Charles E, Minnie, Laurel Fork, Carroll, Virginia abt 1900 Virginia White Son
Samuel E Turner James W, Sarah E., Jerusalem, Southampton, Virginia abt 1904 Virginia White Son
Samuel M Turner Joseph A, Mary M., Christiansburg, Montgomery, Virginia abt 1909 Virginia White Son
Samuel C Turner Edward M, Maggie P., Laurel Fork, Carroll, Virginia abt 1910 Virginia White Son
Samuel W Turner William B, Kate E., Snow Creek, Franklin, Virginia abt 1914 Virginia White Son

Samuel Turner from Virginia was my Father. He met my mother in the summer/fall of 1929, It was summer romance. I was born in May of 1930. My mother only told me his name and that he was from Virginia. My y-dna only matches Turner surnamed individuals. My surname is that of a stepfather who adopted me.
