Rhonda,

Old Tishomingo Co., MS was divided into Tishomingo, Alcorn and Prentiss Counties abt. 1870. Very likely, the marriage record for John Douglass Davis & Sarah A. Wheatley is in Alcorn Co., MS.

The people at the Alcorn Co., MS Historical Society are very helpful. You can either call or write to them and ask for help.

My John Douglass Davis married to Sarah A Wheatley is suppose to have gotten married in Tishimngo co Ms in 1848 but I have yet to find that as everyone says. I have looked everywhere. Does anyone know where I can find for these records?

I found a man named William Pigg, born Pittsylvania Co., VA, said to have moved to Mississippi. I do not think he is the person I am looking for, but he may have had a daughter named Serena. I will be checking this out.

Thank you Jan.
I do not see how this Serena and sister are from the family on census in 1850 Hardin, Tennessee because they are too old. I'm guessing they are somehow related to this family. I am now wondering if Serena in Tishomingo, MS could be the sister of John Pigg in 1850, Hardin, TN census, who named a daughter Sirena/Serena. If your information is correct, perhaps Alvis was John's brother, or cousin. I'm afraid I need information on Pigg, not Cole.
Thank you.

Rosemary - I looked in the surname file at the library. Someone had sent information about the Piggs but I don't know when it was sent. It states that Serena Pigg b.15sept1831 d.03feb1921 married John Tate Cole b.03oct1828 d.15june1908 m.27oct1853. Her sister Samatha Pigg married Isaac Cole. It states they believe Alvis Pigg was their brother. There is a lady here in town that has alot of genealogy on the Coles and McMasters. If this is the family you are looking for and will be glad to get her email for you.

Hello - I saw a message board querie that said Serena Pigg and her sister were in Tishomingo Co., MS between 1850 and 1860, and they both married brothers Coleman. There is a Sirena and sister in 1850, Hardy Co., TN, with their parents, but not with them in 1860 census. I am interested in this family, and I can't find information on Serena. Need information.
