Margaret, Benjamin and Charles were brothers. I have to go out for a couple of hours but I will come back to you with the details.

Yes - that's the family.
Benjamin's son William married Ellen Marie THORNE, daughter of Charles but cannot see a llink with the two fathers yet.
William's daughter Rose Annie married Harry SLADE 1907 Reading RD.

Hi Margaret,
I have Ilsley, Thorne, Hobbs, and just one Turner, in Tilehurst. Ilsleys were a big family. Who is it you are specifically looking for?
Benjamin Thorne marr Elizabeth Hobbs whose mother was Nanny Ilsley

I am doing some research for a friend at present. Her family names from Tilehurst are TURNER, THORNE, HOBBS and ILSLEY. Do any of these sound familiar?

Hi,Thank you for the welcome.
Surnames
Sellwood, Wickens and Beckingham in the main, but virtually all the big Tilehurst families of the 19th century are linked. I have a big database of linked Tilehurst families and am happy to help anyone.
The one person I am really stuck on is my great grandmother, Sarah Chapman 1807. In 1851 (Berks fhs cd) she says born Basingstoke, in 1841 born in Berks, but disappears in 1861 although her husband, Thomas Sellwood 1804, is a lodger in Theale and still saying married. He died in Bradfield Workhouse and is buried there. I cannot find a burial for Sarah or a baptism. They were my 2nd great grandparents.

The photograph is of Tilehurst Water Tower, built in 1931-2 on the highest land in the area and the local 'symbol' for Tilehurst.
