There are several Digory Swiggs in our tree one with a daughter called Damerisk. Then there is my 6th ggrandfather Theophilus Pethick. Both surnames are from Cornwall, England the source of many odd surnames.

This group should be fun. I had to join. Our family is notorious for weird names. My name is Gwenelda Jean pronounced "Gwah-Nell-Dah" my husbands middle name is Granderson. But I guess some of the funniest names come from one of my Mothers Sisters, her name was "Rosettah Urinah Jane" lol There are plenty of others.

I just joined because when I saw it, I had to think of my Dad's side of the family. Our last name is Cruse. My Grandma's name was Minnie Walburgia Schwab and one of her sisters was Stella Rheuhamie schwab. On the Cruse side, one of my great aunts was Cinderella Cruse. Didn't work though. She never married and the one picture I have of her she's pretty stern looking!

so far I think "Fortune Flood" is the most amusing name in our family so far! But I've just begun !!

I also thought Thankful was an funny name, but now I have uncovered 3 of them from three different branches of my tree. Other funny names I have are: Audre (my husbands uncle - still living); Nyssa (my niece - age 18); and Ami (my great-grandfather's middle name). I also have a Patience Angel who when married became Patience Damon...

Interesting names, that's for sure. I had a friend with a daughter Jerusha just a few years ago. I had never heard it before, but she was named after an early ancestor. I thought it was a lovely name.

Well, now I'm trying to figure out what in the world possessed these relatives of mine (cousins Xtimes removed) to name their daughter Roy and their son Bernice!?!

Hmmm...it just hit me about the birth and death dates on Experience Bliss. She would've been about 110 years old at the time of her death so I'll have to research those dates a bit more.

Paula:
Here's a good one for you. I'm researching the line on Lucille Ball since she's a distant relative on my dad's side.
On Lucille Ball's family tree, there's also an Experience Bliss born 1 Apr 1679 and died 7 Apr 1797.
Hmmm...kind of makes me wonder if there's a connection between your family tree and Lucille Ball's also.
