Hello!

I live in California with my husband and three young children.

I have just started to collect family stories for my children of their ancestors who immigrated to the United States. Our swiss ancestors, Frederick Glauser came from Bern, Switzerland in 1909 and his wife, Martha Von Neiderhausern came from Guttisburg, Switzerland in 1902. I my grandmother, who is still living, remembers them and says she has cousins living in Switzerland.

I look forward to learning more about our family and how to do research in Switzerland.

One set of my Swiss g-grandparents were jakob Künzi (or Kuenzi) b. 27 Sep 1848 from Mühleberg, Trub, BE, Switzerland.  Baptized at Muensingen, BE.  He married Anna Mäder (or Maeder) b. 21 Aug. 1847 at Gümmenen, BE, Switzerland, baptized 12 Sep 1847.  Married in Bern on 16 Dec. 1871.  Both died at Kerzers, FR, Switzerland.  They had 3 children: Emil, Maria and Rosa (my grandmother). Emil had 3 daughters and 3 sons born between 1908 and 1917.  I'd love to find some of their children to "catch up" on the family.  Rosa was the only one who immigrated to the US. birdeekay@earthlink.net

My Swiss family is Holler/Hollar/Haller, mainly Heinrich Haller who came from the Canton of Zurich in the, b. 1689, and left that land following the Protestant REformation, later moving to Alsace. Heinrich and his took his family to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he received a land grant. Interested in more information on this family and his descendants in America, get in touch wit me, Kelsey Holler.

Hello, everyone.....I just found my first Swiss ancestor, my great great grandfather, Johann (John) Grunder, and have no idea where to start my research. He was born about 1820 in Berne, Switzerland......He died 1904 in Wilton, Muscatine, Iowa and is buried there in Oakdale Cemetery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have been asked to write some interesting stories of Swiss emigration to the United States for a Swiss genealogical publication. I can certainly start with some of the big names that we all know, but I would like to include some stories of common emigrants who made a big impact on their new country.

If you or someone you know has a great story that they would like to share about their Swiss ancestors emigration to the United States, and the new life they made from themselves, please contact me.

The only caveat I would make is the more genealogical and historical information the better to help me construct a compelling narrative. Thanks in advance, Jean-François

Finally found out my family, the Lehmanns, comes from Worb, Bern, Switzerland. I've been able to trace them to 1515, pure luck and ancestry.com really.
