Leif. is there a Hulu farm in V. Ryd also? From 1818 - 1836 the family lived at Hulu farm in Lommaryd.

I just looked it up on the map and V. Ryd and Lommaryd aren't that far apart so it makes sense.

Thanks.

Yes it is, Johannes lived at Hulu farm in V. Ryd, Ostergotland.

Thats correct Cheri, I thought Patrick (sorry for slipping on the keys and put an -a on your name) didn't know where his Gustaf Johnson and his siblings were born, none of that was in the original post.

The files Jönköping Gen Soc are soon at the end as they will take them of the website. This as there is so much errors in them. You really has to check with the original and see if the info are correct. The Gen Soc will produce a CD instead with the errors corrected.

Probably V Ryd means Västra Ryd in Östergötland,

Myself work on a database of emigrants from the Falköping are in Skaraborg, some of "found" emigrants are at my website www.emigrant.se (klick on the GB flag to find the english vers). /Annelie

Thanks, Leif. I appreciate any help. Maybe you or someone on here can answer a question that has been bothering me. Johnannes Johansson's birth place is listed at "V. Ryd". Is that Vastra Ryd in Ostergotland? Thanks again!

Patrick, give me some time and I will try to help you.
In following addresses you can find some of Gustav Alfred's children.

Patrick, I think that Annelie as well as myself thought with your initial posting that you were wanting help in locating Gustaf Johnson. I think Annelie lives in Sweden. She has been wonderful to help people who need some guidance. She has found at least one great bit of info for me and she also has a wonderful web site which centers mostly on the Falkoping area.(Skaraborgs Lan). She may want to correct my information!

Annelie, were you addressing the below message to me? I'm a he, not a she. :-) My ancestor, Gustaf Adolf Johnson, was born in Lommaryd, Jonkoping lan. He was the son of Johannes Johansson and Maja Stina Larsdotter. They moved from there to Vireda, Jonkoping lan in 1838.

The only family left in Sweden was his oldest brother Lars Johan Johansson who farmed at Blackarp, Vireda. Would be interested in finding descendants of Lars Johan. He had at least three children, Gustaf Alfred, Ida Kristina and Oscar August. Gustaf Alfred was still at Blackarp until at least 1896.

Patricia, Do you know his and his siblings ages? It would help a a lot. Don't have any matches in Emigranten Popular, but maybe I find something in the CD Emibas.

My gt gt grandfather immigrated to U. S, in September 1853 from Sweden leaving from Goteborg to Boston, Massachussetts on the S.S. Lexington.and the ship was FULL of Swedes. He had a very common name, Gustaf Johnson, but luckily he was traveling with two sisters and one brother in law. One thing I found that helps is, if they lived in a Swedish community in the U. S., look to see where the other Swedes who immigrated at the same time came from.

It was a lot of emigrants who went to Boston from Sweden. Do you know when your gt gr grandparents emigrated, year and month? If so I will make a try in the CD Emigrant Popular, which says from which parish/place they emigrated from. Ancestry.com has it searchable on their site as well.
