Stoneman family crest and name history

The first English Stoneman originated from Cornwall, England. Their name is derived from the Old-English word "stan" meaning "stone".

Stoneman are characterized by multiple spelling variations as Stoan, Stone, Stoneman and so on.

House of Names have researched the Stoneman family crest and I strongly recommend to read more about both the crest and the name history for the Stoneman family on their website.

I have very little information about Stoneman's in USA. The few I know of emigrated to US from UK late 1800 and early 1900. But your information could well be right. Keep on good researching!

From what I have found she was from North Carolina. Born abt 1786.
Her parents could have been James Stoneman and Sarah Freeman.
James father could have been John Stoeman and his mother Elizabeth Markham. Both from England. And Johns father might have been a Christopher Stoneman.
Now this info I do not have proof of. But from research I've done on this name this is what I came up with.
Does any sound like it might be right to you?????
