I'm Donna Nichols, and my Steele line goes back through my father's mother. My great grandmother was Amelia Steele Vertrees, Her father was Rev. William Steele and mother was Catherine James. He was an Episcopal priest from TN and wound up in Texas by 1834 in the area of Marshall, and Caddo Lake in Texas. He is buried, along with his wife at Bedford Plantation in Marshall, TX. His father was Capt. John Steele, born in Carlisle PA to Rev. John Steele, "The Fighting Parson" and first Chaplain of the Colonial Forces. Capt. John Steele married Agnes Moore and he and his wife are buried in the Old Carlisle Cemetary, next to his father, Rev. John Steele and his mother Margaret Hutchinson. They came from Londonderry. Rev. John Steele was a Presbyterian minister in Carlisle and several other churches in PA. I know that Rev. William Steele and his wife had other children, but I have never met any others in the family.

Hi, I'm Linda Steele Winter. I'm brand new to Genealogy Wise. My Great Grandfather was William George Steele, son of James Steele and Elizabeth Wylie. They were scottish immigrants. My great grandfather eventually settled in Iona, Idaho, where my grandfather William George Steele, Jr settled and where my father Kay Brunt Steele was born and raised. Hopefully, I will be able to share and my information with anyone looking for more info on this family line.

Hi. I'm Dennis Steele and I've just joined GenealogyWise and this Steele discussion forum. I am descended from Samuel Steel, b. 1767 in PA. He moved to Monroe Co OH in early 1800s with several of his sons and possibly brothers or cousins. Steel family remained, and grew, in Monroe Co OH until 1860s when they migrated to Tazewell Co IL, KS, NE and MI. Have recently done my DNA but have not yet posted results at ancestry.com. Would be delighted to share info on my line.
