Hello
I am Susan --Suz-- Cruse. My maternal grandmother was Lulu Maude Smith of Columbus Grove, Ohio. She was the 6th child of Jackson Smith and Hannah Elizabeth Wood of Columbus Grove, Ohio. They, and their 1st 3 children were from Groveport, Ohio. Lulu married my paternal grandfather, Charles Franklin Reynolds and they settled in Lima, Ohio.Jackson's father was William Smith who married 1st Christener Tusing and 2nd, Jane Hanover, Jackson's grandmother. J's brother Adam also lived in Columbus Grove. I remembered most of my Mom's aunts and uncles, but not Adam. I would love very much to know more about those Smiths--where they came from, when to US, etc. but they being Smiths, I have put off looking until I had the good fortune to see this site! If anything rings a bell, I'd be happy to know! Thanks, suz

Hello all,
My brickwall ancestor is my great grandmother Susan Melvina Smith b.1842 in Hunterdon Cty, NJ, died in 1902 in Kankakee Cty, Il. She married Austin W. Ewing in Kendall Cty, Il in 1863. I cannot find out who her parents were. I have her marriage lisc and there is no mention of her mother and father. There is no death cert for her as that was not required in Il in 1902.
Thank you

Following Smith research would seem to be most difficult. My great-grandmother was Lillie Viola Smith (1875-1931) from Bibb County, Alabama and an orphan. Her father was named Kirby Smith, mother was Fannie Fulman. No one seems to know what Kirby's father's name was or where they may have come from. Fannie died when Lillie was about 10 years old. The family was broken up and children "adopted" by various neighbors.
