My Maternal Grandfather is: George Elbert Smith Born 14 Jun 1875 Viroqua WI, Died 5 Dec 1955 Winner, SD.  His father is James A. Smith (1825-1908) born in Scioto, Ohio. Died in Viola WI.  His mother was Margaret Catherine Allen. Born 1 Apr 1842 in Perry, Ohio.  Died in Viroqua WI 1 Jun 1905.

Can anyone help me find more of the family?  Thanks. Cindy

Right now, I have 3 separate Smith families in my heritage.  One family from Union County, South Carolina (married into my Jones family) moved to Gibson County, Tennessee, then to Independence County, Arkansas.  A second family married into my Hopkins line -- Coffee County to Rutherford County, Tennessee -- then to Calloway County, Kentucky.  My third line lived in Dunklin County, Missouri -- married into my Morgan family -- lived in Craighead County, Arkansas.

I am a Smith who married a Smith.  To make things even more cofusing, my husband's grandfather Smith's wife's maiden name was Smith.  I am looking for information on the Scottish Smith, Alexander and Alexander Roland, who left Scotland in prior to 1911 and settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Alexander returned to Scotland in 1913 and married Mary Margaret Macdonald, they then returned to Vancouver where my father, Alistair, Aunt M. Inez and Uncle Callum were born.  I am looking for information on my great grandfather's line: Angus Smith, of Ross and Cromarty, Stornoway, Scotland.  I am also looking for information on George Smith of Allegan County, Michigan, and Frank Smith and his wife, daughter of John Smith and wife, nee Rabb, of Germany, then New York.  I have run into a brick with George Smith, father of Frank Smith, born abt. 1885 in Salem Township, Michigan.  Any help with these lines would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!

Hi all, I found this Book while in Ancestry that some of you might be interested in. Or just go to your local Library online and thru Heritage Quest you can also see this Book. The Title is Abstracts of Wills 1791-1850 of Rensellaer County N.Y.

And since my father Harry Douglas was born in that county and the city of Troy, I was hoping I could find a link there so I copied most of the "Smith" pages. Check it out..
