SIVERS/SIVER/SIVIER/SIVYER-One-Name Study

I am researching these names world-wide and have registered the study with the Guild of One-Name Studies. I should be very happy to hear from anyone with an interest in these names.

I am a direct descendant from Mary Sivyer 1651-1680 through her marriage to Thomas Tress

I have a couple of questions someone might be able to clarify

  1. Was John Sivyer (marr: Margaret Burcombe) the father of Francis Sivyer c1622-1678? If so on what basis?
  2. Other researchers have John’s children – Thomas, Sarah, Mary Joan, John, Francis and Ann all baptised in Westminster. But I find that difficult to accept as John was resident in Salehurst Sussex and died there, so what would bring him to Westminster c1610?
  3. Are there any records of Francis birth (other than Westminster) and also his marriage to Rachel?
  4. Lastly, a Thomas Sivyer had a will probated 1609. I have not seen this will but could he be the father of John?

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Regards

Simon Merrick

I don't think SIVEY would come into this group. It's a separate spelling which I have never seen used with any of the surnames I am researching.

Thank you for your message Cheryle. No I ahve not come across SIVEY as a variant of SIVERS etc so have not included it in my research.

Would Sivey be included in this group? There were many ways of spelling Sivey, not sure if it included an 'R' or not?
