Does anyone have any information on "Bowyer", especially a Phillip (or Philip Bowyer) with wife Elizabeth unknown?  He fought in the Revolutionary War and is found in records in Dunsmore, Shenandoah VA areas.  Also, any info linking him to Adam, or Michael Bowyer who came into Augusta counties, and on to Greenbrier, Monroe Counties.

Circa the 1850's there was a post office at "Johnson's Mills" (not a textile mill, likely a colonial grist mill?), Pitt Co., N.C. It's more-or-less between Grifton, Pitt Co., N.C., and the Pitt.Craven Cos. line. Who is the Johnson it was named for?

My father's family Johnson is from that area, past and present.  My father was Clarence E. Johnson (1933-1975).  He was the youngest of 11 children.  One of my cousins married a Long.  There are so many!! It's hard to know where to begin.  I am in the beginning process of this all.

Somerset, New Jersey: No known ancestors there; but very much interested in it's history because age circa 8, circa 1950, I lived at nearby Liberty Corner in a big 1920's "Castle" with 18 other lads, then called "Woodcastle School for Boys", Robert Clifton "Tony" Lumpkin, headmaster. It was on Somerville Road. A later headmaster renamed it "Chartwell Manor". Decades ago it partly burnt, destroying wonderful antiques; but is now being restored by Steven Fieldstein who named it Phareloch Castle. It's website: www.fieldsteinfinancial.com/pharelochcastle.html. In 1981 it was featured on Tim Kettle's TV show, "That's Incredible", as a "Ghost Castle". Parts of that show are now on U-Tube.

Blevins & Hanrahan: I have no known Blevins nor Hanrahan blood; but for Hanrahan interested, there is a small place in Pitt County, N.C., near Greenville/Grifton, long named Hanrahan. Mrs. Blevins: my great, great grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Heath Woollen of Randolph Co., N.C., in her old age, circa the 1850's, Guilford Co., N.C., was on "outside welfare" according to a list in the Greensboro, N.C., newspaper, being cared for by the Blevins family; kinship unknown.  "Inside welfare" was the county farm, related and unrelated families were paid "outside walfare" to care for old folks also as an alternative. Possibly the Blevins family was Heath or Woollen family kin?

Joseph D. Hagarman/Hegeman b. 1787 in Somerset NJ moved to Berkeley Co by 1819 married  ___? Ann? bought land on Back Creek with Joseph Henderson. Had 3 children Antoinette 1819,  Marinus1821 and John in 1823.  She died early 1824 and he died 6 months or so later in August.  Aunt Ann from NJ was guardian and she later married Wm. Barney.  Anything familiar here?

Hi.. My family came to the Shenandoah Valley during the 1740-60s... Then eventually moved over in to what is now Monroe, Logan, Mingo West Virginia

"Dr." Henry Propst. Sr., "Hessian" Army medic, from Bad Gandershiem (medical springs?), Germany, to Concord, N.C., DAR Patriot. Age 55, "Went over to the enemy (Patriots)"; alledgedly a prisoner of war on a German/American farm in the Shenandoah Valley. Read that at Jefferson's "Monticelo" (spelling?), Jefferson like to dine with his German RW PW's. Does anyone know anything abour RW German PW's in the valley? Astride his horse on medical call, Cabarrus County, N.C., "Dr." Propst was alledgedly killed by lightening. His saddle and horse carried medical bags survive. Jim Miller, Southport, N.C. Were there "medical springs" in the valley in RW days? Lastly: I wish once cadets and their kin of defunct valley Millitary Academies (Staunton, Augusta, others?), would get FMS in Waynesboro to move it's alumni office into it's Waynesboro, old Carnegie Library; and at modest cost, let defunct valley military school alumni associations, use other offices in the same building.
