My grandfather was Clifford Shelnut. I have been told that it doesn't matter how the name is spelled we are all related. I have downloaded all the information taking the spelling of the name to Schelkneckdt (if that's not the correct spelling it's close, Not looking at it at the moment). Would be glad to share what I have for any of the researchers out there. Jane Cobb published a book on the Shelnut Family. Sadly, they are no longer in publication. I was just a teenager at the last huge Shelnut reunion that was held in Arkansas. I had never seen so many people in one place that were all family. By the way I have a double dose of Shelnut in my line. As my cousin said it sounds a little incestuous but it's not.

You can find a lot of well researched information on the Shelnutt's at . Unfortunately, Bill Patterson died in 2007, but his son has maintained the website.

Look at the origin of the name and how the Shelnutts, Palatine Germans, came to South Carolina and Georgia.
