Very new to digital scrapping.. What is a mini kit? Is it a kit you use for small albums? Or is it a kit with few items?

Until I joined this group, I was totally clueless about digital scrapping. This all seems very interesting. I have some questions:

1) Importing photos and clip art can be done in MS Word. I have both Word and Photoshop Elements. Which should I use? Is one easier than the other for scrapping? Pros and cons, please.

2) Is digital scrapping basically importing photos, clip art, and text into a document?

Thanks
I just posted my Grandparents life storytag:www.genealogywise.com,2009-08-31:3463583:Topic:1552012009-08-31T19:48:20.593ZHelen Curtishttp://www.genealogywise.com/profile/HelenCurtis
I designed and published my grandparents life story. It was so rewarding! I scanned thousands of pictures and interviewed family. I was hoping you would look at my pictures and tell me what you think. It was a huge hit at our family reunion, and every one who wanted a copy bought one. It is digital, I started with a predesigned template and then made it my own. I'm teaching classes on how to design in Heritage Makers Studio www.sharingheritage.com…

Apologies for the lateness of this challenge, I've been busy with grandchildren. We will let this challenge go for a week and a half to get it back to the Sunday start day.

This week's challenge, scrap a military page. It could be a draft card, pictures of someone in uniform, letters from overseas, whatever, as long as it has a connection with someone int he military. Have fun.

If anyone is interested, I would LOVE to get some more altered art for the August issue which is dedicated to WATER. The postcard can be in the design or just be the inspiration for the art.
I'm a day late but here is the challenge for the week:

Scrap information about an important day without using photos of the people involved. This could be a wedding, confirmation, naturalization day, whatever, but find ancestors you don't have photos of, and scrap something about an important day in their lives.

Please post here any links you know of for free scrapbooking kits, clipart, tubes, actions or scripts, or anything else that would be useful to us in this group.

Here is the one already posted by Marcia. I checked it out and it's quite nice, with things like old book images and clocks that would make great page embellishments.
This week's challenge is to scrap a family group sheet, with or without photos, though I do hope to see some without. I'm going to try to think outside my own box and make one that's not using my standard sets. Hmm, now that's a challenge! lol

Ok folks I have an idea. Each week I will post a challenge centered around scrapping one localized event, person, data type or whatever. Let's see how many posts we can get going here. If you are just beginning and need some help, please ask. No question is too small. I know a lot of people are afraid to speak up, but this group is for helping and learning, and I cannot possibly know what it is people need help with or information about if you don't tell me. So, this week's challenge - Scrap a census data sheet.

Census data is one of the easiest types of data to find, and just about everyone has some. If you really don;t have one of your own family, scrap someone else's :P

Add some journaling, a title, and some appropriate embellishments. It can be digital or paper, and in any size. Take a picture of it or scan it (is paper) and post your completed image here. Challenge will run until next Sunday, when a new challenge will be given.

Have fun and happy scrappin'
