??. Just switched from Legacy to RootsMagic 4. I'm trying to figure out how to add this one source. What would be your best guess?

It's the Dutch civil register site: http://genlias.nl (an amazing site!)

Thank you, Jennifer. I'll explore "Lists" further, too, as I've other ideas for it.

Much obliged, lass.

Dae,
Reports > Lists > Place list
Select "Print all events in a single place" and choose your place.

I have RM3. I want to create a report of any and all ancestors who lived in an area I plan to visit for research. So I need to search and report on LOCATION, regardless of the EVENT. I haven't yet learned how to do this. Can anyone help me?

Spencer, create a new blank database, then drag and drop your father's line into it. Then create another new database and drag and drop your mother's line into that. You don't need to delete them from the original if you create 2 new databases and drag the 2 lines into them.

Thanks Jennifer....kinda what I was afraid of. I have to many people to do it name by name...my life doesn't have enough years left in it to do that.
Thanks again
Spencer

The only way to do so would be to transfer each person individually. You can do it two ways: create a GEDCOM with one half of the family (you have to go through the list of people and check each person). You can also create a new database and open it side-by-side with your current one and drag and drop people. Neither of these methods will delete a person from a database. You will need to also manually do that person-by-person. Can I suggest that you leave your database alone? Transferring a lot of people, you might lose people or data. I would suggest you instead create two Groups, one for your mom's side and one for your dad's side. You can use these groups for printing charts and other features.

Is there a way to split my database into two separate databases, mothers side, fathers side? I have tried everything I could think of but can't figure out a way to do it.
Thanks

Thanks Jennifer~ not fretting on 'your bad' is 100 % better than my know not! ;) Trying to read the book as I go but ... I am not always book friendly. Will try this way and see what happens. Always purr-fecting huh? ;)
