I'm considering which source template to use for information on MyHeritage.com provided by a distant relation. Would I use Family Trees, Undocumented?

One more thing: Genlias has pretty detailed marriage records including the parent's names. My question is: would I just add the whole text to detail text?

I'd like to thank everybody for their suggestions! I think I'm going to take Bill's suggestion and use Civil Registrations, England (online databases). Sources are a difficult concept for me to grasp so I'm trying. I like to list everything but obviously that's not what sources are. lol.

@Holly - I'd love to be able to be in Salt Lake. It would be the perfect opportunity to get a good grasp on some of the questions I have. Unfortunately, I'm disabled and it's very painful to travel. I'm hoping someday they might allow webcasts for certain events.

If you are in Salt Lake City next week be sure to come by the RootsMagic booth and ask Mike and Bruce in person your questions! They will be at the Immigration Family History Expo Thursday March 18th.

"Basic Ancestry Database" and "Website (multiple databases)" are almost exactly the same. The only difference being an optional "Creator/Owner" of the website field addition to the latter (hence my comment about why they chose to name the first as such-it does not apply only to Ancestry.com). Since Genlias is the name of the company? as well as the name of the website, you don't need to write it twice, so which ever template you use will work.

@Bill Bienia I didn't know that about how many possible volumes there could be; pretty interesting and amazing that it's grown so huge.

@Jennifer Shaw One thing about the "Basic Ancestry Database" is that it's for Ancestry.com. Would "website (multiple databases)" work better?

Thanks to all for your help! Definitely a learning curve when switching from Legacy. lol.

Bernard, it appears to me that Genlias only has indexes, not the actual records, therefore you site it as a database (online searchable indexes are databases). In RM4, the source template you want to use is "Basic Ancestry Database" (not sure why they titled it that).

Bernard, Elizabeth Mills did not include a model for this particular type of source. (She indicated in one message forum that to include everything it would have taken four volumes like Evidence Explained, and even then she may not be able to find every type of source.) Have you had a look at Vital Records (state-level, online derevatives) or Civil Registrations, England (online databases) or Civil Regs., Statutory Registers, Scotland (online database) to see if any these would work as a starting point from which to make a copy, then modify the copy to suit your particular source?

@Tamura Thanks for the clarification. Although Legacy uses Evidence templates, I'm just not able to find something that might work. Do you have an idea? I see website (multiple databases) and digital archives. I'm at a loss.

Bernard, the SourceWizard is your friend.
However, before adding it, you need to clear about what it is and is not. It is decidedly not the Dutch civil register, but merely online index to a large part of it,with the ability to order copies. There are errors in this index.
