I also sent a sample to Sorensen that never showed up. I understand that it could be years or maybe never before you see anything from that source.

Hello,
My name is Judith Richards Shubert.I have submitted my DNA sample to the Sorenson lab in Salt Lake. I mailed it March 25, 2009 and understand it may be a long time before mine shows up on the website. My paternal direct descendancy chart looks like this:

......... +Mary Elizabeth Polly Sapp b: Jul 30, 1797 in Atlanta, Jefferson or Richmond Co., GA d: Oct 10, 1879 in Buena Vista, Shelby Co., TX
............. 3 John S. Richards b: Feb 19, 1819 in Blount Springs, Blount Co., AL d: Oct 06, 1875 in Shelby Co., TX

................................. 6 Leon Fremont Richards b: Aug 26, 1916 in Peaster, Parker Co., TX d: Apr 08, 1985 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX
................................... +Vernelle Gailey b: Sep 25, 1921 in Millsap, Parker Co., TX d: Aug 19, 1998 in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX
.......................................... 7 Judith Gail Richards b: Oct 14, 1943 in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto Co., TX
....................................+ (2) Mildred Lorraine Smith b: Feb 28, 1921 in Deluce, AR d: May 04, 2001 in Stephenville, Erath Co., TX

Since I, obviously, am a female my DNA would only be useful in pinpointing the location of origin, if I understand it correctly. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a type of DNA that is carried by both men and women but is only inherited from their mother. Mothers, in turn, inherit their DNA from their mothers ... and so on back in time along one's maternal line.

I'm looking forward to interacting with this group.

I match mostly Nasons and Masons, not Richards. I did match one Richards, a descendant of Charles Nason 3rd was kidnapped by Indians in Maine in the late 1600's and sold in Montreal. His name was mis-translated to Jacques Ritchot. It was later anglicized to Richards when some of his descendants moved to Massachusetts in the mid-1800's. I'm trying to figure out how my ancestor, Peter Richards, b. abt. 1787 in St. Thomas, West Indies connects!

I am also descended from another Richards line with immigrant ancestor Thomas b. 1590 in England and d. 1650 in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
