My grandfather, WT Richards was baptized in the Garrison Chapel, Halifax, Nova Scotia on 8 July 1866 (date of birth 19 June 1866?), officiated by JG Edghill.   His father, Thomas, was a Gunner - Royal Artillery; his mother Louisa.   I am led to believe that Thomas and Louisa (Caddick ?) were married in Dudley, Worcester, England on 31 March 1850 when they were both 20 years of age.  The mystery is - are these the correct parents and if so, why should they have been in Canada in 1866 (with the Military).

My grandfather, WT, also had his career in the military with the Royal Horse Artillery and saw service in Egypt, India and the Boer War South Africa.  He apparently married 3 times - to a French woman (Canadian French ? Brigit / Birgit / Bridgit ?), an English woman, and in South Africa to Louisa Buchholz.   My father, Gordon Thomas Richards, was born in 1920.

Any help in this regard will be very much appreciated.

Gail Richards, Durban, South Africa
