Reynolds was my grandmother's maiden name. Her father's name was Wesley Reynolds and her grandfather's name was Thomas Reynolds, who was born about 1864 in England. I have not conducted much research into this line yet.
My line comes down from John Rector Reynolds, Sr., born in Vermont about 1825. I found him in the 1860 census in Rock Island, Illinois, with the occupation of "constructor." By the 1870 census, he was in Atlantic, Pymosa Twp., Cass County, Iowa, running a hotel.

His wife was named Elizabeth. I don't know her maiden surname. They had children John Rector Reynolds, Jr., Alana [?], and Charles.

By 1880, still in Atlantic, Iowa, they had another daughter named Laura.

John Rector Reynolds, Jr., married Virginia Ferrier before 1880 (probably about 1878), and in 1880 they were living with John Jr.'s family, and they had a 1-year-old daughter named Bessie (Elizabeth Jane Reynolds, my great-grandmother).
