Comment by Brittney Layne Reeves on June 12, 2012 at 10:55am Hi everyone! I found this page while researching my Reese family. My great-grandfather was John Earnest Reese, son of Thomas and Jennie Reese, born in 1914. He was adopted by Willie Wellons Ferrell and Alsie Florence Kinton from Mecklenburg, VA. My grandmother has been trying to find her fathers biological family for years now. John received a letter from a man named Charles claiming to be his brother but that letter has long been lost. None of John's adoptive brothers and sisters have any information other than his adoption papers. If anyone has any information, I'd love to make my grandmothers dreams come true. Johns adopted mother, Alsie Kinton had an aunt Mary Ann Kinton that married a B. F. Reese. According to their marriage certificate found on FamilySearch.com, his name was Benjamin F. Reese from Petersburg VA born 1857 and married in Lunenburg to Mary Ann Kinton when he was 46. They had no children but I'm guessing he may have been married previously and had children. Mecklenburg (where John was adopted) is the next county over from Lunenburg. I'm thinking John was really Alsie's cousin's child. I'm hoping that I can find a connection. I'm trying to talk my Grandmother's nephew into doing the DNa test but I don't know how successful that will be. Thank you so much in advance.

Comment by Debra Reese on August 30, 2011 at 11:31pm Happy News! My only male first cousin, Robert Paul Reese II, (my Father's brother's son) did his Paternal DNA test. His results are in. I am very happy to learn of his DNA results because my Dad and his Dad had no other siblings. Our Dads are both now passed on. My cousin was the closest and only remaining male of my Dads side still living to do the paternal DNA test other my cousins own sons. The results of Roberts DNA test confirmed a lot of things for both of us. Also providing both of us with identifying marker information to enter in for comparing our blood lines among other Reese's participating in research. I want to thank him for doing the DNA test which provides not only both of us but our progeny with confirming information about our families history. Foremost we have learned that we are indeed Reese's of Welsh origin! Thanks again Cal, (Robert Paul Reese II)!
We are both great grandchildren of William Lewis Reese b 1833. Our Grandfather was Joseph Gideon Reese. We are also participating with www.myfamily.com group named Reese DNA and more . . .

My Grandpa Reese, Joseph Gideon Reese's brother Philip Walter Reese worked in Texas in Oil too, and his son Gale Warren Reese was killed with his wife as their car drover an oil vent or something in the road and exploded near an oil field in Texas. Gale Warren Reese is said to be buried along with his great grandfather William Lewis Reese, in Willow Island Cemetery in W Virginia just across the river from Ohio where our GGG Grandfather William (father of Henry Reese) is buried in the near vicinity(possibly a Sheet's famly plot) just across the river. I live out west and so have not been able to check on these cemeteries across the river from one another. I have the written Reese family history about these individuals of that era written about these 3-4 generations by Philip Walter Reese my Grandpas brother. Anything sound familiar?

Comment by Debra Reese on July 22, 2011 at 9:32am Lee or whom else it may concern . . .
My more recent Reese ancestors lived in Missouri in the lower south east and lower southern eastern regions . In Marked Tree, Ark, Wayne County,Mo, and Fremont, Mo. and St.Louis. And before that some were from Ohio n Illinois and my Dad's grandfather and his siblings had large families so the children scatter everywhere. My Dad knew of Uncle(s) who moved to Texas and California and he had been to visit them in the 1940s-50s. These were in the Oil business in Texas and also Jewelery business which my Dads only bro was involved in for some time - exactly how - I cant be sure.
Does any of this sound familiar?

Comment by Debra Reese on July 20, 2011 at 11:39am Hi, Deb (DLReese) here,
I just uploaded a bunch of my old photos. I love old photos! I have even been able to see family resemblances among photos from other, not so distant relatives, in Ancestry Family Trees and make acquaintances with relatives/cousins I never met! Its so much fun!
I uploaded my OLD Reese photos and would like to encourage other Reeses (however spelled) to upload their old photos as well.
Who knows we might start something here - the largest group of Old Reese Photos on the web!
