Hi James! Great to see you here.
I read Peter Fidler's journal not so long ago. It's a great source of information on the early RRS years.
Are you taking in any of the celebrations in Winnipeg this coming week?

Hello - I'm a new member. While I am not aware of being descended from any of the original settlers, I do know that at least one of my ancestors was involved with the settlement. Through my grandfather I am descended from HBC employees: Peter Fidler (English) and John Park (Scottish). Through the Park's I am also related to James Inkster and Laetitia Sutherland.
Nadine - welcome. Which of Francis and Mary's children was your ancestor? I don't know much about any of them except Albert. I was able to follow his family because he moved to the U.S.
My great-grandfather was Angus, brother of John "Bushy" Matheson [1810-1898]. He and his wife Isabella (Livingston) and their two small sons, Alexander and James, moved to Delaware County, Iowa, in 1840. My grandfather, John, the seventh of their eleven children, was born in January 1847, just after Iowa was admitted to the Union.

Hello,
I am a brand new member. I have documents that say I am descended from the Mathesons, Murrays, Pritchards and Smyths and am interested in learning as much as I can.
My great grandfather was Francis W. Murray whose father was a Lord Selkirk settler and Fracis who was born in Old Kildonan on the family homestead. His wife was Mary Matheson a sister of the Archbishop of Rupert's Land. I have a copy of his obituary but the date was cut off. I also have their original marriage certificate of March 7, 1876. I have a family tree of the Pritchards & Mathesons going back to John Pritchard 1657 -1737 descended from the Pritchards of Middleton, Chisbury.
