I am a descendant of John PRITCHARD (1777-1855) m. Catherine MCGILVRA. He came to the west c. 1800 with the XY Company and later worked for the North West Co. He joined the RRS in April of 1815, after a 2000+ mile winter journey from Montreal via Hudson's Bay carrying urgent intelligence for Miles Macdonell , the Colony's Governor. He had twelve children by Catherine, and one son by his previous First Nations wife.
Catherine was the widow of Hector MCLEAN, and arrived in the RRS with him in the 1812 group of settlers. She had a daughter by Hector.

I am a descendant of Richard Pritchard, son of John Pritchard, through Richard's daughter Margaret. Margaret travelled to Fort Norman to be a companion to Mrs Bishop Bompas - was there a family connection? There seem to be other family members with the name Bompas.
Yes, there is a connection, but I'd need to do some look ups to determine how the Pritchards and Bishop Bompas' family are connected exactly. Hang on...

Yes. Mrs. Bompas was a descendant of John Pritchard & Catherine MacGilvra.
