My Prestons were from Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, 1700s/1800s. Some of them were college servants at Worcester College (James, Joseph), others were tailors (Richard, John) and another, my 4 x great grandfather, Charles Preston, was an upholsterer. The earliest generation I know is my 6 x Great Grandfather, Joseph Preston, a cooper, who married Mary Best in 1756 at St. Mary Magdalen, Oxford. He was the son of Joseph Preston, a victualler.
I'm not really researching the prestons, but my husband's last name is preston and he is doing his tree. His name is Alastair Stewart, his dad's name was Kenneth Stewart all from Scotland.
I am researching my husband's family. They are the Presbury - Presson - Preston family who lived in Chester and Auburn New Hamphsire. His line is descended from Emerson Preston.
I also descend from William Preston/Presbury of Beverly, actually two lines. I was born in Beverly!
My first line goes from William Presbury to his son Nehemiah Preston who married Abigail Allen, to Hannah Preston who married Robert Woodbury in 1745/6. My mom is also an Allen from Abigail Allen's Manchester Allens.
I also have a line from William to his son Randall Preston and Susanna Stone, to William Presson who married Abigail Sargent in 1761 in Gloucester.
Alvesta, was my father's grandmother. She passed in 1996 at the age of 86, placing her birth around 1910.Again, any help you can find is greatly appreciated.
I am researching Alvesta Preston and any descendants. I don't have many facts, but can run with this. Any info you find, share would be most appreciated. Thanks!
My PRESTON line is from Thomas Preston Sr. (abt 1722 - 1798 Brunswick Co., VA). My line of descent from him is through his son, Thomas Preston Jr (1754 - 1836 Walton Co., GA), his son Gilliam Preston (1784 - 1832 Butts Co., GA), his son, Gilliam Hulon Preston (1828 - 1898 Clay Co., AL), his son, Archibald Marion Preston (1858 - 1926 Blount County, AL), his daughter, Grace Pauline Preston Hicks (1905 - 1985), my great-grandmother.
I am a member of DAR through this line. Any cousins out there?
I am researching the descendants of Isaac Preston and Sally Nelson from Lyme New Hampshire, and the children of Isaac Preston and his 2nd. wife Jemima Allen in Canada. All of the sons of both families were in Canada before migrateing to Vermont, New York, Ohio, lllinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
