I'm new to the group. I'm descendant of Phillip Perry (married Celia Horton) who ended up in Oconee Co, SC, and in Elijay, GA. I have my Perrys documented back to Habersham County, GA in the early 1800s. Let me know if you are still looking for Joshua Perry and I'll check and see if I have a Joshua in my proofs. The Ninety-six District is full of Perrys, so there is a good chance I have something.

Permalink Reply by Tyler Hancock on December 11, 2011 at 10:11am Hi Claude,
I haven't found anything on Joshua Perry yet.
I have proof that Phillip Perry born c 1778 in SC & died before 1850 in Habersham Co, GA married Celia Horton born ca 1774 in SC and died after 1860 in Habersham Co, GA. I have that through census records and William Horton's (Celia's father) will. (William Horton died in Lancaster Dist, SC, so it is highly probable that there is a connection somehow with Joshua Perry.)
Philip & Celia had Allen Perry born ca 1801 in SC & died after 1880 in Habersham Co, GA. I have a copy of his marriage certificate to Mary A Holcomb. They were married 20 Mar 1831 in Habersham Co, GA. I also have a copy of Mary's father's will. He was Sherwood Holcomb.
Allen and Mary Holcomb had a son, Phillip Jefferson Perry, who was killed at the Battle of Fredricksburg. Phillip had married Mary Ann Loudermilk (have CSA pension record , SALT records & tombstone photos), and they had a son, Phillip Jefferson Perry Jr, who was born after his father was killed. I do have Phillip Jr's Death certificate. Phillip Jefferson Perry Jr was my great, great grandfather.
I have been researching the 1st Phillip Perry who married Celia Horton. I am trying to locate a copy of his will, and figure out who his parents were. My guess is that Joshua Perry will be in there somewhere; I will keep looking for Joshua in my searches.
Sorry I don't have more info for you right now. I'll keep looking though.

It seems that based on a recent DNA report that can be found on the Perry DNA Project (www.perry-dna.org), my father's line as posted above, belongs to the line that is descended from one of the 7 Perry brothers who left Virginia and moved to North Carolina in or before 1743. The link to this particular set of Descendants is http://www.perry-dna.org/pages/ancestors.html#9 where my Joshua Perry is listed in the 6th grouping.
Permalink Reply by Tyler Hancock on April 28, 2012 at 1:10pm Thanks for the link. My ancestor is the Philip Perry who married Celia Horton--have proof because one of my DAR Patriots is Celia's dad, William Horton. He is in group 3, #18654. I go through their son Allen Perry. Given how close your group and my group ended up living, there had to be some connections somehow, I would think! Thanks, Claude!

Your Group is the line I thought was the one that my Dad's line belonged in originally. Part of this reasoning was based on a family legend that Peter Boyer Perry (11 Apr 1823-07 Jan 1899), who founded Pedro Florida and an older brother of Joseph Todd Copeland Perry, was stated to have been a cousin of Florida's 4th Governor, Madison Starke Perry. The information that he was cousin to Governor Perry comes from http://www.civilwarflorida.com/site/soldiers/soldier_detail.php?sol.... Based on that and that the Benjamin Perry mentioned near the bottom of my original post seemed to fit as being the possible father of Joshua Perry, husband of Lucy Shubert, This Theory that my Dad's line fit in with group three was further "proved" came from http://sallysfamilyplace.com/Neighbors/benperry.htm where it shows that Governor Perry was a descendant of John Perry and Elizabeth Macland, listed as the earliest known Perry ancestors of the first group of kits for Group 3 on the Perry DNA Project.
But considering that My Dad's line is part of the grouping for the "7 Perry Brothers", I need to find who Joshua's father truly was. So far, there has been no further information forthcoming.
