Comment by Sherry Hightower on April 26, 2011 at 1:25am Welcome Gladys. Seems we are distant cousins. I descend from Wiley Peebles who married Eliza Ward. They settled in Texas after leaving AL.
So glad you joined and please feel free to share anything you would like. I would be interested and I know others would be too. If you would start a discussion (Look under the heading "Discussion Forum" and follow the list down to the "Start Discussion+")..then it will keep all the replies to your post together.
Comment by Gladys Berger on April 17, 2011 at 2:04pm Hello Peebles Cousins. My line of Peebles is from
William Peebles born @ 1670 son of David Peebles who lived in the Fife area of
Scotland.
William Peebles was a Quaker b.@ 1670 and died 12 Oct 1727 Prince George Co Va. his daughter Hannah Peebles married 1st Wm Patison. He died and then Hannah Peebles Patison married John Merrymoon. I have quite a bit of information on the descent of Hannah & John Merrymoon. Mostly Quakers ,many records are in the Hinshaw Quaker Meeting books . Henrico
Monthly meeting. Henrico County Va. I have a small account of the Peebles in Scotland dating back to the year 1291 written by
Anne Bradbury Peebles in Sept 1962. Title-- A collection of the descendants of David Peebles, Royalist Officer who escaped to Virginia in 1649/1650..
Parish records and various notes on the family. Let me know if I can help in any way ,by sharing these papers. Gladys
