I have very little on my Pate ancestors.  Zacheus Zachariah Pate was b. abt 1785 in Robeson Co., NC and d. 10/5/1862 Geneva Co., AL.  He married Elizabeth Humphrey (d/o James and Rachael Copeland Humphrey) in 1806 in Robeson Co.  They had 9 children: Marilla, William, Alexander, Benjamin, Delighter, Unnamed, Rachel, Unnamed2, and James.  Only the last 3 or 4 were born in Thomas Co., GA.    Rachael (my ancestor) married Aaron T Davis (also b. in GA) abt 1846.  They lived from 1850 until their deaths in AL.  They had 5 children that I know of: Elizabeth (m. Jefferson Hughes-11 children),  Elias (m. California Bond-6 children - my line), Wynnie M., Mary, and Andrew (m. Mary J. "Molly" Unknown").   Hope someone can help me with Z.Z., my brickwall.

According to the family, my grandparents, John Aaron Davis and Lee Ann Brunson, were cousins . A number of their descendants and allied family members have sought to track down that family that would connect the two. It may well be the Pate Family. Can you add to or correct the following:
<> Lee Ann, d/o Cynthia Rutherford, was Mary Allis Davis Rutherford's granddaughter.
<> Cynthia's brother (Lee Ann's uncle), John A Rutherford, married Thursey Pate. Thus, Alexander Pate, Thursey's father, became Lee Ann's great uncle by marriage.
<> Alexander Pate was the brother-in-law of Aaron T. Davis (married Thursey's aunt Rachel Pate), and thus John Aaron Davis' great uncle.
<> The children of John A and Thursey Pate Rutherford would have been Lee Ann Brunson's first cousins and John Aaron Davis' second cousins.
The family may have assumed that John and Lee Ann were cousins (the cousin of my cousin is also my cousin) but there were no actual blood ties.
