David -

OXSIL is a site which collects surname interests - do add yours.

I looked in the Oxfordshire FHS's DVD of the Quarter Sessions records -- there are of course a lot of EDWARDS references, but they include William in Ducklington in 1745. The case involved the assault of William EDWARDS, constable in Ducklington, by members of the GREEN family.

We have a strong interest in the canal - our KNIGHT's sailed from Banbury ending up in Brummagem - any other canal lovers?

I am interested in the Axletree factory at Deddington, if anyone could tell me when it originated etc., and of the MASON family working there.

Hi Wendy,
My main interest is in the village of Kingston Bagpuize, where 11 of my ancestors spent all or part of their lives from about 1700 to about 1880, along with other family members, two of whom ran the post office, and the last of whom died about 1915. As you know I have already joined Jill Muir's KB group.
Best wishes, Al

Curiously my grandmother's father was a WHEELER from Nettlebed whilst my grandfather's mother was a WHEELER from Deddington. I have established no connection between the two families however. Does anybody know better than me?

I've put a link to the online Victoria County History volumes for Oxfordshire - a rich source of well referenced and in-depth articles about Oxfordshire places & their people.
