Arline, welcome to the group.  Unfortunately I am not familiar with your Priors.  I know there were Pryors / Priors who went to Georgia but they came from North Carolina and were whites.  There could be other Priors who came to Georgia via Savannah as you learned, not closely related to those who came to Virginia.

Looking for some Prior that lived in Mitilia District 70 Burke,Georgia

Rachel Prior.was born in Georgia in the 1820's then had a Daughter name

Elizabeth Lizzie,who married a (McCray) in 1920's) then Gilbert Prior,in the

1870 Census but they married and live in Burke,Georgia,and the kids,were

Lizzie,Daniel,Wilson and along with a Washington Heard born 1841 in Burke,Georgia and his wife Fibby Heard,her maiden name was Prior?There is a Lizzie Prior in the United States Federal Census 1870)and her birth abt 1855 and Age in 1879 19.her birthplace is Alabama.and Home in 1870 Militia District 70 Burke,Georgia and her Race:black Post Office:Waynesboro it was indicated

the (Prior Immigrated Here when we learned this and knowind many (Irish Immigrant) came by way of Savannah Ports) which would had led them directly into (Georgia and Alabama)

Hello Charlene, welcome to the group. We need to find more to join us. Do tell me about your Pryor line. So far I have mine back to Matthew Pryor and wife Mary Neeley of Roane Co., TN. I descend from Philip Pryor, their son, who went to McNairy Co., TN and died there around 1851. While I don't have proof that his son was Lemuel M. Pryor, I strongly believe he was, due to some information and the DNA testing. Lemuel and his brother William J. Pryor relocated to east Texas late 1840s.
