Through this online database, researchers can access more than 77,000 references to petitions for grants or leases of land created by individuals who lived in present-day Ontario between 1763 and 1865.

FYI, the Kenora genealogy group has set up a network for those doing genealogical research in that region of NW Ontario. http://askgen.ning.com/ if you have ancestors or are a researcher in that district.

Hi, Lynne McDonough: I have a Jacob Snyder in my family tree; although I have no information on a spouse or children. My Jacob was born on Feb 5, either 1744 or 1745; and was the son of Johannes Jost Snider (born 06 Jan 1705/06 in Heuttengesass, H-Nassau, Hessen-Nassau, Germany and died 07 Mar 1788 in Beckman Patient, Dutchess, New York, USA) and Anna Magdalena Flagler (born 19 Sep 1712 in Ulster, Dutchess, New York, USA and died about 07 Mar 1788 in Beekmans Patent, Dutchess, New York, USA). Johannes and Anna were married about 1728 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, New York, USA. They had about 14 children together.
I have another Jacob Snyder (born about 1810) who married Magdalena Pickard (born 18 May 1806 in Minden, Montgomery, NY, USA and died 02 Jan 1848 in Caughdenoy, NY). I'm not sure of this Jacob's parentage at this point.
Would one of these be part of your family tree? If so, I'd like to share what I have with you.

@Janice Schultz,
Looking on WorldConnect there are a couple of people who give William as descended from Joseph-Andre LALONDE & Catherine MAILLOUX (I do have their genealogy back - as shown on the WorldConnect page but no children listed for them) you might email the poster for documentation. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=nblos...
Sorry I can't be of more help right now.

James, I descend from Alexander Lalone who was born in Hastings, Ontario on 12 September 1866. He immigrated to Michigan with his parents William Lalone and Margaret Knight.

Janice, who is the LALONDE your are researching? I collect all LALON(D)E data, although my stuff for Ontario is limited. Thanks. Jim.

James, Sorry - it looks like there's no connection to my family.

@Janice Schultz, my ancestor Samuel LALONDE b. Qc settled in Walsingham, Norfolk Co., Ont. and married Margaret SMITH. I am stuck on both, the line I can get back least on.
