Hi again...I am also searching for a family who emigrated from Norway to USA, about 1881 or perhaps 1885. One boy; Peter Nicholas, born nov. 18, 1881 ( maybe 1882) perhaps in Oslo. he had one elder sister:Emma. One younger sister: Dora, born in USA and also two brothers " Engle" and "Olie". The mothers name: " Bridget". the fathers name perhaps.." Ole Johnson or John Oleson"...
Can anyone find something about this...?..I think it is not easy...
Regards, Yvonne, Sweden.

I do not see a reply so maybe I will take a look. Do you know what last name Peter used? Can you estimate when they came to USA? Did they come from Oslo? Does Oslo have a police list of departures like in Goteborg? Where in USA?

If the family was still growing, I will assume Peter was young when he came. Let me try some US sources. Unfortuantely we are missing the 1890 census. What of the picture? Peter and Emma? When and where? They look about 20 years old which would be in the 1900 decade.
Hi, it is nice of you to try and find them!

This is what I have got:
• Peter Nicholas Hagen, born Nov. 18, 1882 ( sometimes they write Nov. 19, 1881…or Nov. 18. 1881.. in Oslo…(perhaps..)
He died in St. Louis, Missouri in Nov. 19. 1946.
• The family emigrated to USA when he was 4 month or 4 years old
• He had two sisters; Emma, born in Norway, older than Peter
and Dora, born in USA.
• He had two brothers, called “Engle” and “Olie”, they were older than Peter.
• Peters father was a fisherman by trade and was seriously injured in a storm at sea. He and one other man were the only survivors.
The clung to debris from the wreckage and were picked up on the third day by a passing boat.
His leg was mangled and was quite a bit shorter after the accident. He was no longer seaworthy and had to learn another trade.
He apprenticed to a shoe cobbler and became a shoemaker.
When he felt confident he could earn a living and support his family with his new trade he came to the U.S.A
• Peters mother´s name is probably something like “ Bridget”
• Peters father´s name perhaps John or Ole, since the brothers last name in USA was Johnson/Oleson….
• Peter was married to Ethel in December 1914 in Missoula, Montana.
Well, you see, it is a very “hard wall”…
The photo is Peter and his wife Ethel. They were married in Montana. The person I have contact with is Peters daughter who want to know about her fathers famliy in Norway....
Both she and I think it is very difficult to find something....
I dont know if there is any list of departures in Oslo.
Thanks for trying!
US Census for 1930 showed a Peter N Hagen age 46 married to Anna with two kids... Norman and Constance. Ages 10 and 7. They also had a roomer Jens GrelnliBrother-in-law to Peter. They lived in Dutton, MT. Another record for his death shows dob=24 oct 1883 dod=sep 1967 in Montana.

Another Peter Hagen lived in Minnesota in 1930 with spouse Emma L, 48, and mother Caroline, 73. This was in Lake Park, MN. But you say they were married and alread in MT by 1914.

Neither look like they met your specifications.
Hi Yvonne--
Finally I have a little time to see what I can find but searching thru all of your postings I do not see you ever told the name of the cousin in L.A. Tell me everything you know about her, parents and any siblings.

Besides being born in L.A. what else happened in L.A.? Parents died? Owned real property?
Hi Lynn,
She is Patricia Antonia Derbeck, born July 27 1949, California. Father Edward W. Derbeck, mother Jeanne Enid Luthman ( art writer in South Bend Tribune) . Patricia was married July 31, 1981, div. Oct 10, 1983 with Pan Z Hu.
Patricias father died july 1983 in Fiverside, Mira Loma, Califronia.
Patricias mother died dec. 12. 1994, South Bend.
That is what I know.......
Thank you for your answer!
California is a big state. Was Patricia born in Los Angeles? How do you know her birthdate? Do you have a birth certificate?

Where was she married? Where was she divorced? How do you know those dates?

Did she have children?

If I found her, what should I say to her?
Hi,
Yes, Patricia was born, married and divorced in Los Angeles. I found it on Ancestry. I do not know if she have any children. The reason I know about her is: Patricias grandmothers mother Jennie Amalia Chilberg was my grandmothers sister. That is also the reason why I would like to have contact with Patricia. It would be very great if it is possible to find her, well, of course, I do not know if she are intersted to know about the ancestors in Sweden....
Oslo area.
Carl Johnsen and Anna Carolina Larsen were married in Olso in 1893. From family folklore I have 23 April in "Oslo" and 22 May in "Paulus, Oslo." We believe Carl may have been born in Karlstad, Sweden in April or January 1869. Anna was from S. Odal, born 21 July 1873. How can I pin this marriage down? I cannot prove that the Carl who lived and died with Anna is the asme one I have in Sweden.

Un documented death inforfamation... Carl Johnsen died 9 Feb 1916 in Oslo and Anna died 10 Feb 1916. Strange that they should die at the same time. The family would never talk about this. Can I prove the death dates and does it show cause of death?

Hello Everyone,

I'm needing help finding anything on the following people (birth date, parents, siblings):

Jens Johansen/Johannesen Fauchald. He was born sometime around 1834 in Østre Totens Prgj (according to the 1865 census).

Bergitte/Bergithe/Birgitte Cecilie Johansen Bækken (wife of Jens). She was born sometime around 1834 in Lillehammer (according to the 1865 census).

The 1865 census that I found these two is here http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr...

Thanks in advance.
