Hi Everyone,

I am looking for Information on Uriah Brown b. 05 Dec 1787 in New Jersey d. 02 Jan 1827 in Mendham, Morris, NJ, married Nancy Anne Upson on 01 May 1823 in Menham, Morris, NJ, she was born 17 Feb 1796 in Mendham, Morris, NJ I have lots of Information on Nancy Upson Brown's Family lines but nothing on Uriah Brown.

They had 4 sons all born in Mendham, Morris, NJ, I believe the Middle names of the sons are clues to the Puzzle.

1. William Upson Brown b. 07 Mar 1814
2. Henry Halsey Brown b. 23 May 1816
3. Thomas Bronson Brown b. 11 Jul 1818
4. Asbel Munson Brown b. 24 Jun 1824

Upson and Bronson are names related to Nancy Upson Brown but she does not have relatives named Halsey or Munson so these names may be connected to the Brown Family?

If you have any Information I would love to hear from you, I would also like to know how or where I could find info on Uriah's Death, are there records anywhere from 1827?

Thanks

Wendy

Hello Wendy:

There are no civil death records for NJ until 1848. There may be a record in the church. Do you know where Uriah is buried? Hilltop Presbyterian in Mendham? If Hilltop, the church records are available on microfilm at the Joint Free Public Library of Morristown/Morris Township - New Jersey Collection. Also cemetery records are there. There may also be a death notice for Uriah. The same library has abstracts prepared by Frederick Canfield to Death Notices in old newspapers. Many of the newspapers themselves were lost in a fire (in 1917 I think), so the notices abstracted before that loss are very help. None of these sources is likely to actually list Uriah's parents, but perhaps other relatives or some other clue may be found in them.

This library is GREAT.

Thank You Sharon,

I will look into it and see if I can find anything, if I get lucky I will post the Info here.

Thanks Again

Wendy

The Munson Family Record has been published on Google Books and is searchable.  The volume published would cover your time frame.

Good luck.
