I'm wanting to connect with other THORNTON's in the East Texas area. I'm also looking for any known THORNTON family reunions.

Looking for relatives of Davis B. Thornton and Anagusta (Rice) Thornton of Smith County, Texas. Also looking for relatives of George A. Thornton and Fannie (Swann) Thornton of Smith County, Texas.

I research William Smith, 1829, Indiana, - 1911, Lamar Co., TX, CSA veteran of the Civil War. He was my g.g.grandfather, with his first wife Margaret Elizabeth Brown. I am trying to find out if he was related to earlier Smith in Texas.

Looking for all Barber, Harper, and Gibson families. Came from KY to Lamar county in the 1880's. I live in Grayson Co, and would be happy to help anyone researching there.

So sorry to hear about the Palestine Library. Thank goodness for the roof liner. Tell Karla I wish I was there to help move things. Thanks for letting us know. As a former librarian, I know how valuable their collections are. After Hurricane Ike, the Galveston Library lost its first floor holdings completely. The second floor historical collections were saved, but it took a year for the building to open again.

Just wanted to let readers know about the disaster that occurred at the Palestine Library. The roof caved in. There was a roof liner that held the water. So no books were damaged. Genealogy section will be back in operation in a couple of weeks. Just not in the same location. Call before planning a visit.
