I am a descendant of Upshur County HAIL family (Elias Granville Hail, John Edward Hail) which goes back to Jacob Hail family of Ozark, Franklin, AR. Happy to share also searching for ancestors of Jocob Hail and his wife Elvira KUYKENDALL. Lots of errors out there on this family due to guardianship of Jacob's children by his brothers and sisters. Other surnames: BROGDEN, PRICE, KING, MAPES, GREY.

Good Morning, Everyone,

I am new to this group so I thought I would 'drop a line'. I live in Garland, Dallas Co, Texas. My wife's family is from Hunt Co, Tx. I serve as the host of the Hunt County, Texas website on genealogytrails.com (http://genealogytrails.com/tex/prairieslakes/hunt) and Dallas County, Texas (http://genealogytrails.com/tex/prairieslakes/dallas). Please stop in for a visit and if anyone would like to contribute to either site, I would be glad to post it for you.

I am looking for the descendents of Simeon ENGLISH (1796-1887) and Anna Erina McFERRON who settled in Red River County between Sep 1852 and Oct 1853. They were married in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, in 1832, and had 14 children. Only half of them lived long enough to marry. Of those, the daughters married into the KENNEDY, CLARK, BEADLE/BEEDLE, AND BANKS families in Red River County between 1859 and 1876. I have found a few census records and a few marriage records, but not much else, so any help would be appreciated.

The Great Family Search Genealogy Conference in Plano, Texas was a smashing success! Tami Glatz's presentations were well organized and enjoyable. Count on me for next year.

i went to a estate sale this week and bought a book of garr family. this is not my line but could not pass up a genealogy book. does the name sound family to anyone? Also the same person had a scrapbook of poems and articles from Richmond VA 1906. i plan to give it to the library which i hope would be the best place for it.

I've just come across one of the most helpful websites I've ever visited: it's called the Red River Sankofa project--it describes itself as follows:

The Red River Sankofa Project is committed to connecting and honoring our ancestral ties to NW Louisiana and NE Texas by focusing on burial ground preservation. This rather remote, but bountiful area along the upper Red River of Louisiana and along the Texas Louisiana border has long been forgotten in historical text therefore we are dedicated towards sharing the rich stories and contributions of our African American ancestors who settled the area.

Regardless of your background, if you have roots in NE Texas or NW Louisiana, you'll find something useful here,
