This group is for all those interested in emigration from North Devon. Many left this area, particularly between 1830 and 1860, frequently heading for Canada. Large numbers of these people have been shown to be members of the Bible Christian Church.

Comment by Marjorie Wilson on March 10, 2012 at 5:33pm I have quite a bit of info on the Tanton family of London Ontario from St. Giles in the Wood. They are related to my Pengilly family, originally from Clovelly, but moved to Yarnscombe.
My gg grandmother was Susan Tanton from St Giles in the Wood. She was born in 1843 and died in 1933 in Toronto. I have pictures of her and her family if you are interested.
