VANN___James "Jim" VANN, JR. was my ggggGrandfather, he was born 04 Feb 1780, in Edgefield Dist., SC, USA and died 1865 in Glennville, Russel Co., AL. He married Mary Mourning Robertson b. 25 Jun 1784 in Edgefield District, SC. and d. 1864 in Glennville, Russel Co., AL.
They had :
1. Mary Mariah Vann, b.27 Aug 1803 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA
2.William Wesley Vann, b.14 Feb 1805 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA
3. Francis McBenny Vann, b.21 Mar 1807 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA
4. Joseph Madison Vann b.01 Apr 1809 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA d.1859 in Russell Co., AL. Dropsy my gggGrandfather.
5.Jane Ann Vann b.22 Nov 1811 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA
6.Lucretia Ellen Vann b.28 Jun 1813 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA d. in Texas
7.Abner Harrison Vann b.03 Sep 1815 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA d. in Russell Co., Al,
8.Henry Marshall Vann b.29 Jan 1818 Edgefield Dist., SC, USA d. in Russell Co., Al,

Some say James was the son of Chief James Vann by one of his many wives however, i am unable to find any information on his Mother. He may have been a cousin of the Chief James Vann.
