Hi, I'm also taking the Social Media course and I am very impressed with it. I was not using any social media before this, so I've really had to stretch. I recently earned an AA in Computer Information Systems and a certificate in Library Science, so, fortunately, that has given me a lot of experience with the computer and research techniques. I have taught several genealogy research classes as well as helped many individuals in their research. I've been researching my family on and off for over 40 years and have volunteered at a regional Family History Center for the last 9 years. I have been able to help a lot of people do their research and find it very rewarding. I live in the Sacramento, CA, area.

Hi, I am Sian from S. Wales, UK, but now reside in Ontario.  I am enrolled in the Social Media course and am fidnding some of the tool suggestions for advancing my research to be quite helpful.

Like many others here, I'm also taking the Social Media course. It's the first time I've tried an NIGS course. I've been researching my family for about 7 years, but ramped up my efforts significantly about 2 years ago (and added my husband's family). I live in Columbus, Ohio.

I am taking the Social Media class at this time. It is the first one I have taken from NIGS. I am enjoying being able to learn from home.

I am also in the Social Media course.  It has been a good experience and I am trying to get my other Genealogy group members to see that social media is a good thing for our society.

I, too , am in the Social Media course.  I began to do genealogy in earnest when I retired in 1998.  At this point I am left with about four seemingly impenetrable brick walls so that most of the online searching that I do finds no records and no one also looking for the same thing.

I am also enrolled in the Social Media course.  It has been a good experience and I have tried out additional social media sites that I hadn't experienced before.  It is a good overview of many of the available social media sites.

Hi, I'm also enrolled in the Social Media course. I was extremely nervous about Social Networking until this course and now I feel way easier with it.

I am in my third year of studies at NIGS and will eventually have my certificate in Canadian records and Librarianship. But that won't stop me from continuing with other courses - there is so much to learn!

I am currently taking the Social Media for Genealogists class. I have taken a few other classes in the past and I really enjoyed them.

I am a graduate of the National Institute, having completed the Certificate in the area of Canadian Records in 2008. To date I have completed something in the order of 45 courses and am currently taking the Social Media course in order to become more familiar with current technological means of finding and conveying information. As a full-time member of the workforce I have found taking the online courses an excellent way to increase my knowledge base during non-work hours.
