Hi All! I am hoping that someone can help me find the death information for my 2nd great-grandfather George P. STAGNER b. 1849 in OH. I can find him in the 1850 Marion, Fayette, Ohio census, 1860 Texas, Dewitt, Illinois census, 1870 Waynesville, Dewitt, Illinois census and the 1880 Wapella, De Witt, Illinois census. He married Mary Emmalin SCOTT on 22 December 1870 in Dewitt Co, IL .After 1880 the family moved to Denton Co, TX. George & Mary STAGNER's daughter Bessie M. STAGNER was born on 20 Nov 1895 in Denton Co, TX. In the 1900 Justice Precinct 4, Denton, Texas census his wife Mary STAGNER is shown as widowed. So, I am fairly certain that he died in TX sometime between 1895 and 1900. I've searched the Texas death records and cemetery records but cannot find his date and place of death. Sure would love it if someone can help me find this info

Hi Lizzie-
I found this site:
http://www.geocities.com/stagnerroots/begin.html

I found his widow's death record, she had married a G.P. Dooley, but they listed Stagner in the space for father! LOL Her death record is on FamilySearchLabs,

You may try contacting a historical library in Denton County to see if they have records of an obituary/biographical information on George P. Stagner.

I will think more on this tonight-
regards
Kate
Hi Kate,

The website you found is my own. :)

Yes, I have a copy of his widow's death record and my great-grandfather had filled it out wrong so that makes my search even harder.
Good morning Lizzie-
I found this site this morning:

You might send him an email, if you haven't tried this already. :)
Hi again Kate,

Thank you for the link. I will try and send him an email.

Thanks again! Lizzie
