I just joined today.  Not sure how this works yet.  My John Moore married Mary "Polly" Barnhouse in Randolph Co., WV in 1835.  Some researchers have said he went to Belmont Co., Ohio sometime around 1840.  He was on the Tyler Co., WV census in 1850 along with wife and children.  His son, Jonathan, was my gr gr grandfather.  Jonathan served in the Civil War for the confederates.  John either died, or left his family, between 1850 and 1854 because his wife Mary married William Brannon in Gilmer Co. in 1854.  During the war they all lived in Calhoun Co.  Most of my Moores lived in WV.  I'm not sure where they originated.

I have been trying for at least 12 years to find John's parents.  I'm on Ancestry.  I write letters when I can, especially to West Virginia Archives and History.  I'm glad to share.

Mary Jane,  your Moores may be my Moores!  I am still searching also.  I have Moores who went to Belmont County OH also.  They are descendents of Daniel and Deborah Poling Moore who cam eto Randolph County from the Cumberland MD, eastern WV (then VA) counties.  MY email is llmcswansong@hotmail.com

I joined yesterday.   I also have been looking for the patents of John Moore and Mary Barnhouse.  I have information on an old family tree that John’s parents were Thomas Moore and Martha Wood.  However, I’ve been told this is incorrect.   Just wondering what info, if any, you may have found on John.  The info I have also suggests Martha was John’s second wife.  Mary was his first wife.
