I come from a state that raises corn and cotton and cockleburs…frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I'm from Missouri; you've got to show me. -- William Duncan Vandiver, 1899 at a naval banquet in Philadelphia.

I encourage the use of the Discussion Forum instead of the Comment Wall. The tags you add to discussion posts allow you to click on the link and see other posts within Missouri Genealogy with the same tag.

When creating tags in the Discussion Forum

If a tag has more than one word, "put it in quotes". This will create one tag.
Put surnames in ALL CAPS. This will differentiate surnames when they are the same as other potential tags. (e.g. JACKSON)
If you're using the name of a county as a tag, add the word 'county'. (e.g. "Jackson County").
As the Admin, I can add tags, but I can't edit tags the creator of the thread chose.

Their daughter Elizabeth Margaret Alleger dob 19 Feb 1860 Linn County, MO married George Robert Nickerson 24 Nov 1876 Linn County, MO. She died 9 Feb 1915 Bucklin, Linn County, MO. George Robert Nickerson's mother was Lucinda Head born 1827.

Any information on Rattchell/Rachel Bobbett, William Alleger, and/or LUCINDA HEAD would be appreciated.

My husband and I live in CA but have many ancestors we have traced to Missouri in the 1800's -1900's. Many fought in Civil War and I have just joined the MO Civil War Museum group as well as this one. Surnames on my branch enclude; BALL, FELTS, KENNEDY and my husband has 2 branches; 1st branch includes FEMMER, HEIDBRIER, KAMP, VOSS and 2nd branch is GREGORY, APPLING, WHITESIDE, CLARK. Looking forward to chatting with this group.

My maternal grandmother is a Fleak from Knox Co, her mother is a Wood from Knox and Clark Co. I have photo's of some of my ancestors, I have ample information on this side of my family, but have some area's in question. Somehow we are related to the Chadwick's, Palmer and Dunn families. Have some info on them but not enough to say yes or no. Have photo that says, Mary Ellen Morey, Grandma Chadwick, and Rosa Wood. Rosa is my gr gr grandmother, her maiden name was Wheelen, don't have much on that line either. Any information on this family would be helpful, will share what I have.

Here are a list of the names, and the state they migrated from: Coleman of Indiana, Hedden of Indiana, Edwards of Ashe Co, North Carolina (*note* the Edward family also lived in Marshal, Saline Co, Mo and Lafayette Co, Mo.), Smith of Ohio, Elliott of Virginia and Kentucky, Talley of Franklin, Tennessee, Hayden of Indiana, Craig of Indiana, Smythe of Georgia and Kentucky, Russell of Alabama, Fox of Tennessee, Collins of Virginia (possible Quakers), Smith of Kentucky, and Lundy of Grayson Co, Virginia (possible Quakers). I know next to nothing about the Fox family, and the Georgia and Kentucky Smythe and Smiths are still quite a mystery for me. Any help is appreciated! :)
