Thanks for listing MoGenWeb - which is an obvious choice. Would like to add some County notes available through their links that may help someone.
Madison County has great and early resources posted online and all links are current. The mining settlements there pre-date statehood by many years and there are great court records online there.
Also the crew running the St. Francois County website are doing a great job - they apparently have a partnership of sorts with the Farmington Public Library and many of their resources at that library are online at this site.

My biggest personal reminder that has saved me on more than one occasion is that our ancestors often went to the closest courthouse/township to conduct business and affairs, and these may or may not necessarily be the one representing their county. The other time this comes in handy is as older counties were subdivided or boundaries re-defined.
The most useful genealogy site in Missouri is Barry Co. They have a dynamic list administrator Donna Cooper and a bunch of volunteers that contribute, canvas cemeteries, etc. Last year they were voted the best in the country. I highly recommend them.

You gave a general link to Missouri Digital Heritage, but there is another more specific link to Historical books, including Houck's Histories of Missouri, that is ouzzing with names. I think there is a search feature.
