Hi Dan: I am not sure if your Jacob is in my family, but the Jacob Miller runs through my line. I am taking a Genealogy course this September that is focused on the Millers of Pittsburgh, so I will probably be researching all Millers in Pittsburgh to 1790 and will be trying to eliminate ones that aren't in my family, so I may be getting info on yours, even if he isn't related. I am primarily looking at Augustus Miller, born 1837, married to Mary Anna Hermann, born about 1843. On the 1850 census, the Hermanns are in Ross Township; in 1860 in McClure Township, (which was originally part of Ross); 1n 1880, they are in Allegheny City. My Hermanns owned a brickyard and many of the Millers and Hermanns worked there. Does any of this sound familiar? I have a Jacob born in 1863 who is the son of August. Keep in touch. Sandy
Hi Sandy,
Thank you for the response.Jacob was born around 1840,and the only record i can find is the 1900 census. The 1910 census shows his wife Christina being a widow. he had a child named Jacob also.I live in Ohio about an hour and half from Pittsburgh.I am going to try and go to Carnegie Mellon Library for some more research, if the weather straightens up. Any information you find would be greatly appreciated, and if I find anything I will send it to you.
Thanks again. Dan
