For anyone with ancestors who lived in the Kalamazoo area I would highly recommend checking out a couple of sites. The Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society has some searchable local records and an associated site was able to digitize many county vital records (up through about 1930, 1908 for births) as well as city directories, some early church records and some cemetery records. Invaluable!

I would like to add the Northeast Michigan Genealogy Society in Alpena County. They also cover Alcona, Montmorency, and Presque Isle
