My grandfather was Dr. Charles B. (C.B.) McHenry. According to census records, he was a physican and was born about 1833 in AL. His father was born in VA and his mother was born in AL. He married Cordelia Ann Walton (d/o Nelson and Marticia Shofner Walton) on 12 Dec 1867 in Bell Co., TX. Their only child, William Thomas McHenry, was born on 22 Oct 1868 in AR. WHY AR? Could it be that C.B. took his new bride to meet his parents and they stayed for the birth of their son?

Could my great grandfather be the son of Robert Woods McHenry and Martha Brown? He did have a son named Charles B. McHenry. And, his oldest sons were William and Thomas. There are a number of circumstantial facts that would tend to tie my grandfather to this family but NO proof as yet.

Does anyone have any information on this son of Dr. Roberts Woods McHenry?

Dr. Charles B. McHenry is no longer a brickwall.  I found him and the woman I know he married after he and my great grandmother were divorced in the 1890 OK/T census in Union City, Canadian Co. OK/T.  A field on the census relates to his military affiliation and it appears to be Co. G, 9th Ark Inf.  The same regiment that Dr. Charles Brown McHenry, son of Dr. Robert Woods McHenry, was in during the civil war.  Also in the same household in the 1890 census is Charles' niece, Minnie L. Lockhart b. AR age 18.  Robert W. McHenry's daughter, Martha married Octavus Lockhart and they had a daughter, who would have been Charles' niece, born in AR abt 1871 named Minnie L.  It is a great feeling when one's brickwall crumbles.
