Looking for Frans Christian Hansson Ekstrand

My grandmother had a brother who went to the US in 1919. His name was Frans Christian Hansson Ekstrand b. in 1881 in Sweden. His ticket was paid by a brother who at the time lived in Maine. The two brothers fell out and Frans left. He was never heard of again.

I have been able to locate Frans until about 1948 when he was living on a farm in Sterling, West Boylston, Worchester, Ma. He left his job there and the people (=the daughter-in-law) owning the farm don't know where he went.

Does anyone know how I can find out when and where he died? I don't know if he ever became a US citizen.
